AMO, an Akima company, is looking add for a Automation Engineer (with a TS clearance) to the team in Summerville, SC. This full-time position will support the Naval Information Warfare Center Atlantic (NIWC Atlantic) Research, Development, Test & Evaluation (RDT&E) network by designing and implementing advanced automation, security orchestration, and system integration solutions across classified and unclassified environments.
The Automation Engineer serves as a senior technical leader responsible for automating cybersecurity compliance, enterprise monitoring, virtualization management, and infrastructure operations. This role focuses heavily on scripting, API integration, STIG automation, and enterprise observability in complex DoD environments.
Responsibilities
Responsible for the overall systems infrastructure including engineering, implementation and integration, and technical services and support. Designs, implements, installs, maintains, and administers infrastructures including hardware, software, and various configurations. Monitors overall performance to proactively identify potential issues and tune appropriately. Performs root cause analysis on failed components and implements corrective measures. Works with others to establish and improve processes and procedures.
Automation & Scripting
• Develop advanced scripts using PowerShell and/or Python to integrate enterprise systems, collect operational data, and increase visibility into issues and errors.
• Send structured data to enterprise logging platforms (e.g., Splunk, Syslog).
• Use PowerShell, Python, Chef InSpec, and Ansible to automate security, auditing, health checks, reporting, and system compliance functions.
• Demonstrate expert-level scripting capabilities to automate operational and cybersecurity deliverables.
Security Automation & STIG Compliance
• Use PowerShell, Python, Chef InSpec, and Ansible to audit and remediate STIG findings.
• Create answer files to automate responses to “Manual”
