Job Description

HHSC has issued a request for an AI Agent Engineer that will be responsible for designing and building agentic AI solutions, including autonomous workflows and RAG-based systems, to improve productivity, automate business processes, and support intelligent decision-making. This role focuses on production-grade agent development using tools like LangChain, LangGraph, CrewAI, and AutoGPT, with strong attention to governance, security, safety controls, and cost efficiency. The ideal candidate brings strong Python and LLM integration experience, plus the ability to build secure, scalable AI solutions for enterprise use.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

Design and develop autonomous AI agents, RAG pipelines, and intelligent workflows that support business automation and decision-making.
Integrate LLMs securely using APIs, vector databases, MCP, and AI guardrails to support governed enterprise use cases.
Build, test, and maintain production-ready AI solutions with strong focus on governance, privacy, safety, and cost efficiency.

Minimum Candidate Characteristics:

4+ years of experience in AI/ML engineering or advanced data science with proven delivery of production-grade autonomous agents.
4+ years of experience building RAG architectures using vector databases and integrating LLMs through APIs.
4+ years of hands-on experience with Python, AI/ML libraries, and agent frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, CrewAI, or AutoGPT.

Exceptional Candidate Characteristics:

Experience with an HHS agency.
Experience building multi-agent or autonomous agentic workflows in enterprise environments.
Experience optimizing LLM cost, token usage, and runtime performance.
Familiarity with enterprise AI deployment patterns, scalability, and operational controls.

Pay: $70.00 - $75.00 per hour
